The fallout from the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw : England vs Ghana in Group L
The 5th of December 2025, saw the eyes of the world eagerly await the outcome of the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, and at the end of it all, Group L saw Croatia and Panama drawn alongside both England and Ghana!
Why am I focusing on Group L of all groups? And who has the best chance of progressing? Well…Jamie Says!!!
Knowing that the Three Lions of England and the Black Stars of Ghana will face off in their second group game at the mundial is a bittersweet experience for me, seeing as it is the country of my birth squaring up against the country of my origin.
Both sides will hope to head into that game coming off victories in their opening fixtures, with England facing a decent side in Croatia, and Ghana taking on the interesting challenge of Panama. The outcomes of both opening games will undoubtedly add even more spice to their upcoming encounter, and with their only previous encounter at the senior level in the Men’s game ending in a pulsating 1-1 draw at Wembley in 2011, we will all watch with keen interest to see if a winner will emerge this time around.
I was emotionally all over the case that day, so it’s safe to assume history will repeat itself in the summer of 2026 at the FIFA World Cup. Personally, I wish both my sides progress safely from the group, but time will tell if that will be the case!

Which other games stand out from the 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw?
Other standout group games for me are France vs Senegal in Group I (a repeat of the opening game from the 2002 World Cup), Germany vs La Côte d’Ivoire in Group E, and the game that will set the proverbial ball rolling… Co-hosts Mexico vs South Africa (a repeat of the opening game from the 2010 World Cup). Which other group games stand out for you? What is your Group of Death? And who do you tip to win the big one at the end of the competition? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!!!
