10th edition of the Black Star International Film Festival takes place this September!

The 10th edition of the Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) takes place this September, as we celebrate a decade of successfully promoting film culture.

With the theme for this year’s edition being “The Relevance of Film in Society“, the event promises to be bigger and better, in keeping with the trajectory that the organisers have maintained over the years.

Indeed, the appeal of the film festival is no longer just desirable to lovers of film as well as other key stakeholders in the entertainment industry from Ghana and the diaspora, as clearly seen from the wide array of countries from which film submissions were made this year!

With an increase in the number of countries where submissions were made, naturally, the jury had the enviable task of arriving at a selection worthy of the occasion!

Here is the full list of films that have been shortlisted for this year’s Black Star International Film Festival, and their respective categories!

When and where will this year’s edition take place?

This year’s Black Star International Film Festival will be held at the Untamed Empire at Spintex in Accra, Ghana, from the 24th-28th of September 2025!

It will entail an opening ceremony, film screenings (shorts & features), panel sessions & workshops, filmmakers’ mixers & networking, the Black Star Awards Show, parties, and lots of fun!

The event is open to anyone who enjoys watching films and wants to have a great time, meet people, network, and do business, i.e., filmmakers, film stakeholders, film lovers & audiences from Ghana, West Africa, across the continent, and around the world!
