On the 29th of August 2025, Ghanaian musician Gyakie released her debut album, After Midnight, and it quickly became apparent to music lovers that this was something special and it was definitely worth the wait!

What do we love about this album by Gyakie? Well… Jamie says!!!

Straight off the bat, it’s worth letting you know… this seventeen-track project is a beautiful body of work! The intro is a lovely fusion of traditional sounds with a bit of a jazzy feel, which then leads us to a wonderful love song in Fire on the Mountain, after which she slows it down a bit on Damn U, on which she features 6lack! The artist then switches the riddim up alongside Shatta Wale on the next single, Harmattan, before teaming up with Omar Sterling on a groovy song titled y2k luv!

She follows it up with a jam in Sankofa, before a brief interlude with the album’s titular song After Midnight leads us to a linkup with Headie One on I’m not taken. She advises the listener to keep being themselves on No One, and then serves us another good song, Breaking News!

Young Jonn joins the sultry singer on an upbeat House Party, with Unconditional maintaining the tempo. She then dishes Story and a slow jam in Want It. She has Kojey Radical join her for a song fit for the club scene in Party Galore. We wrap it all up, with the artiste otherwise known as Jackline Acheampong asking us Is It Worth It? before we conclude the album with her giving thanks on Hallelujah!

After Midnight had a lot to live up to, and it’s safe to say that it delivered on its potential. We all wait patiently to see what happens next from the Flip The Musicrecord label’s star artist, but if the fact that she was just named as not only the Rookie Of The Month by Billboard and also the cover star of Apple Music‘s Alpha playlist is anything to go by, then there is no indication that her and her team will be slowing down anytime soon!
